Welcome to Carolyn’s Nonprofit Blog

My mission is to help organizations, communities, donors and volunteers attain their fundraising, digital communications and public relations goals in the most efficient, thoughtful, high-quality manner possible. I am an independent nonprofit fundraising and communications expert with extensive experience across Texas and beyond.

Carolyn’s Nonprofit Blog was launched in 2011. Based on personal interests and experiences, it shares my work in the “trenches” of nonprofit organizations small and large, both the wonderful and the challenging moments. The challenges I discuss are meant to help readers learn that while missteps happen naturally in life, one can recuperate and even thrive once you deal with and move past them. Never say never!

Remote Working

Since 2014, I have conducted the majority of my work from my dedicated home office. This allows me the peace and quiet needed to research and compose grant proposals, to write and design communications pieces, to prepare PowerPoint presentations, to manage social media and more. Some think I am part of a large firm, in part because I get so much done. But I am independent. I have developed working habits that include being highly focused, detail oriented, organized and “tech savvy.”

If you would like a personalized virtual workshop on any of the topics found on Carolyn’s Nonprofit Blog, use the secure contact form on this website to reach me. Please include your topic(s), preferred dates and times.

I have added a series of heartwarming and educational fundraising stories relating to certain personalities I have encountered in my work, “A Brief Account.” Additional sections focus on “Asking,” “Baby Boomers,” “Capital Campaigns,” “Connecting With Diverse Communities,” “Development as a Profession,” my “Portfolio | Photo Blogs” and more. In addition, when I have written “posts” or recent thoughts that relate directly to primary articles, I have begun sharing links to some of them in the main menu for ease of reference.

Use the “search” boxes to find articles that discuss issues and topics of interest to you. If you cannot find something, please reach out via my secure contact form. In all cases, I share links to outside sources you may find helpful, but keep in mind, link- and article-sharing does not necessarily not indicate formal endorsement.
