Welcome to Carolyn’s Nonprofit Blog

Carolyn’s Nonprofit Blog was launched in 2011. It is based on personal interests and experiences. It focuses on my nonprofit work spanning three decades. My aim is to share my experiences working in the “trenches,” both the wonderful and the challenging moments.

The challenges I discuss are meant to help readers understand that while missteps happen naturally in life, one can recuperate and even thrive once you deal with and move past them.

This blog was created and it is written and managed solely by Carolyn M. Appleton, free of charge as a public service. All rights reserved.

NIO Summit
This Instagram – one of my favorites from 2018 – was taken during a conference break at the NIO Summit in San Antonio at the Aztec Theater.Blog Navigation

The main list of “primary” articles on Carolyn’s Nonprofit Blog may be found by clicking the drop-down menu at the top of the page. I add new information to existing posts often. In the dropdown menu, you might also enjoy my new series of photo portfolios, and a new section with advice for newcomers in the field of nonprofit development, “Development as a Profession.”

Missing Something?

If you are searching for one of my casual “posts” but are unable to locate it, do two things: 1) check the Primary Articles (drop-down menu at the top of the page), as some posts have been converted to primary articles; and/or 2) check the widgets in the margin at the bottom of the page. There you will find Carolyn’s Posts and a searchable archive going back to 2013.

The photographs in the rotating series of “headers” on Carolyn’s Nonprofit Blog were taken by me with an iPhone, except the graphic design by late friend Mike Hicks, which is shown in greater detail in, “A Special Event: An Environmental Breakthrough for Texas.” Questions?
